background-color: #eeeeee; margin-top: 0.4em;\" title=\"WP_20130306_006\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_006-168x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"168\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_006-168x300.jpg 168w, https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_006-576x1024.jpg 576w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 168px) 100vw, 168px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last night, nearly 60 patrons had the pleasure of enjoying a fabulous meal and presentation at Max&#8217;s Oyster Bar in West Hartford. \u00a0Chef Scott Miller went all out with a round the world assortment of dishes that played off the flavors and styles of the strikingly good brews from Stone.<\/p>\n<p>As our guests\u00a0entered\u00a0everyone\u00a0was given a pretzel lei to enjoy and nibble on while the rest of\u00a0the\u00a0guests arrived.<\/p>\n<p>First course was paired with\u00a0the\u00a0Stone Levitation Ale, a fabulous style that is a bit easier on the alcohol at 4.5% abv, but big on flavor with rich maltiness and fresh citrusy hops. \u00a0Chef Miller paired this with a Hiramasa Crudo (King Fish) with some foie gras powder and freeze dried strawberries. \u00a0Our guests knew they were in for a treat last night after seeing this dish.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"font-style: normal; line-height: 24px; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/recap-stone-brewery-dinner-at-maxs-oyster-bar\/wp_20130306_007\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1077\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1077\" style=\"border-color: #bbbbbb; margin-top: 0.4em; background-color: #eeeeee;\" title=\"WP_20130306_007\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_007-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_007-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_007-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_007-500x281.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Coming up next from Stone was the Stone IPA,\u00a0really\u00a0their flagship brew and one that is easily identifiable as a classic. \u00a0This beer is what IPA, especially West Coast IPA lovers, are looking for. \u00a0Full on hops with a smooth undertone of maltiness. \u00a0At 77IBUs there is nothing shy about this, but it drinks great and you are<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"font-style: normal; line-height: 24px; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/recap-stone-brewery-dinner-at-maxs-oyster-bar\/wp_20130306_017\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1078\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1078\" style=\"border-color: #bbbbbb; margin-top: 0.4em; background-color: #eeeeee;\" title=\"WP_20130306_017\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_017-168x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"168\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_017-168x300.jpg 168w, https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_017-576x1024.jpg 576w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 168px) 100vw, 168px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>usually not aware of the 6.9% abv. \u00a0Chef Miller paired this with a take on a\u00a0classic\u00a0Mexican dish called a Chilaquiles, a dish often served in the morning or for brunch as its often meant to use up left-over tortillas and other ingredients. \u00a0This was a perfect foil for the Stone IPA, though and with the addition of a soft boiled egg, its was just decadent enough to make you feel really good. \u00a0Smoked chorizo was a nice touch as well.<\/p>\n<p>For the third course, the Stone Sublimely Self Righteous Ale was up, and this is one of the fan favorites. \u00a0At 8.7% abv and 90 IBUs, there is nothing really being held back with this brew. \u00a0Full on hop aromas, rich malt and nutty flavors, though surprisingly clean drinking for such a big brew. \u00a0Chef took this intensity of hops in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/recap-stone-brewery-dinner-at-maxs-oyster-bar\/wp_20130306_031\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1080\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1080\" title=\"WP_20130306_031\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_031-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_031-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_031-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_031-500x281.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>the beer and played off that with a little twist that complimented the flavors and tingled the senses. \u00a0Pine needle smoked pork jowl with some lime and an assortment of Vietnamese styled pickles, plus just as the dish was to hit the table we flamed the fresh pine needles to boost the aromatics even more. \u00a0Fabulous aromas and taste with this dish. \u00a0The whole room smelled of smoky, woodsy pine and hops.<\/p>\n<p>For the entree course guests were treated to a unique take on the &#8220;Chicken Fried Steak&#8221;, where Chef Miller took a short-rib and wrapped it in chicken skin before cooking. \u00a0Bringing the crispness of fried chicken and the richness of well braised short rib together in one satisfying bite. \u00a0With the addition of a southern waffles and white gravy, the dish was full-on delicious and flavorful. \u00a0For this dish we poured full pints of the Stone Enjoy By 4.10.13, a limited release ale that is only\u00a0available\u00a0for a very limited time and then it is gone for good. \u00a0Bright and hoppy, this was a smooth and crisp style and paired perfectly with the chicken fried ribs.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/recap-stone-brewery-dinner-at-maxs-oyster-bar\/wp_20130306_018\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1081\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1081\" title=\"WP_20130306_018\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_018-168x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"168\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_018-168x300.jpg 168w, https:\/\/www.maxrestaurantgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/WP_20130306_018-576x1024.jpg 576w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 168px) 100vw, 168px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I think for me the favorite dish of the evening had to be the last. \u00a0This was such a \u00a0great combination and both the beer and\u00a0the\u00a0dessert were better for the flavors in each. \u00a0Chef Miller put together this decadent, but easy to eat combination of baked apples, Caramel and Rogue Creamery Rogue River Blue cheese that was visually and flavor-wise delicious. \u00a0The caramel tuile made this look like a million dollar dish, and the taste was right on.
